Shake some of the feathers into that area, but don't over fill. Double sew where you traced so you can cut off what you won't use. Quilt this area. with about a 4-6 inch grid. Now cut your shell (outer part). Assemble the vest by following the directions on the pattern. It does not matter how hard you try, you will get feathers everywhere. Imagine the people that work in the down rooms that sit there all day filling baffles. I had to fill in once. I came out looking like a poorly plucked chicken. Oh, wear a face mask. Feathers up the nose are not nice either.
