I didn't quite catch everything but think she used two pieces of each fabric to get the pieces needed for the project. I was wondering if you could cut them out clean enough (for those who have die cutters) put an oversized piece of fusible web behind the opening for the circle. Then you could swap the circles from one fabric to the other and fuse in place. You could sew the circles to the contrasting fabric square with a stitch that would join the two. Then cut into fourths. Would only use half as much fabric that way.
