I just taught my son's girlfriend's daughter how to make a baby quilt. She had never ironed or sewn before. We started out by learning how to press fabric and seams. Then set her up with one of my Featherweights, which she thought was so CUTE! Well, yeah!! Had her practice on a piece of striped fabric, just learning to sew a straight line. Then we moved on to practicing a 1/4 inch seam with the special foot. She got a baby quilt pieced in one day. Next lesson is how to put it together with backing, pin and use a walking foot to quilt in the ditch. Then on to the binding and she'll have it made. She has a new cousin coming in June. I'm so proud of her.
