This is so funny, but I just read your post to my DH and he said it all made perfect sense to him. The fabric makes perfect packing material for those more precious items like green beans, beer and cat toys, etc.
He was even grabbing handfuls of "rags" (my polar fleece-Ack!) to stuff in around breakable items. :XD:
