Hi and good for you for learning on your own. My thought is that the book uses a smaller size for a first quilt for a reason. A queen size would be alot to handle for a beginner. I would just go ahead and learn the binding, plus sandwiching, free motion quilting,etc., in an easier to handle size. You can always display it on the back of your sofa or on the foot of your bed, use it as a throw, etc. I don't mean to be discouraging, but would hate to see you become frustrated with the process, but that's just me. Have fun with it whatever you decide to do.
