I had a featherweight case that smelled like that. I put the machine in the case along with a couple of OdorEaters brand shoe insoles (the ones with charcoal in them) and left it for a few weeks. The case and machine have been odor-free ever since. Charcoal absorbs musty odors, and the insoles make it easy to keep charcoal inside the case. Works for me.....
