I did a quilt for a lady she found squares that her mother in law had done by hand and she had passed away. I put it together for her and bought it to the quilter and they use polyester thread to quilt them together it's more forgiving and breaks less. So that rule only applies to piecing it together, but I have use polyester thread to piece also. My quilt my rules. Anything goes now a days they have loops, pebbles, waves, flowers it's unending check out u tube. Don't let other people ruin your feeling of accomplishment. I'm sure she doesn't do things perfect either. I'm sure it was great work well done....
