If all the pieces are present, you're going to love playing with that hemstitcher - it does the most beautiful detailing on linen! You draw a few threads out of the area that you want to hemstitch and run that line of drawn threads through the hemstitcher, first on one side of the line, then on the other. The stitching holds the fabric firm so that the "holes" stay open - it's very pretty!
A little tricky on that jackrabbit model 15, but even as uncoordinated as I am, I did it, so I'm sure you'll do it, too. I used it on curtains, but it's an heirloom detail on all kinds of linens, blouses, baby clothes, etc. If it turns out that you like the effect, you can slow your machine down with a $20 router controller from Harbor Freight - makes it easier to keep the fabric lined up so that the puncher is going into the same hole on the second pass as it did on the first.
