Now I take my square and lay it out flat and I start with the 3" diamonds. My first diamond needs to be placed so that it will help form a square in the upper left corner of the 16" square. I use the pressed lines to help line up my pieces before pressing them down.

Laying out the first two diamonds to make sure I am starting in the right position to form a square in the upper left corner of my 16" square fabric

Removed the backing from my diamond and press it down. It should line up right between the 2 lines you pressed in your 16" square

Continued placing diamonds by lining up the center point and the 2 points where the diamonds touch. Using the pressed lines to help keep straight
