I went to the local radiology lab and asked for their old discarded x-rays. They gave me big bunch..enough for a life time. Anyway it is a sturdy translucent plastic that I can draw templates on and just cut out with a scissors. Call around I will bet you find some no good x-rays that would other wise end up in a dump. It also makes good stiffener for fabric boxes.
I am going to work on some more template free patterns for charm squares ...I have two figured out already.....
