Colonial Patterns has Lone Star & Broken Star kits that are very reasonably priced ($25.50 - $28.00). They are only the pre-cut diamonds. You would need to supply the set-in fabric. Granted, the fabric used for the diamonds is poly/cotton blend. The point is these kits are great to learn on and you don't have all the cutting to do.

The trick to the Lone Star is extremely accurate piecing. If you decide to make one, take your time making it.
