Quick Biology lesson... Saliva begins the digestion process by breaking down the protiens and nutrients in food. It also has the ability to break down your own blood because it is the same DNA, which means the blood spot has no defense against the saliva.

I have also heard lemon juice works... I know it is a great "bleach"!! (especially when you're out to lunch in a new blue blouse and the lemon you squeeze into your tea splashes you... you end up with these nice little irregular dots everywhere it lands) :oops:
