It seems to me that it would be about the right height to sit next to a regular machine cabinet to help hold the quilt that is being machine quilted. Or, before that, to hold a small pressing board area, or the strips that make the quilt. And that's before you consider all the ideas that have been listed for the rest of the house!

I just purchased a 100 yr old treadle -- I cleaned/repaired it & now the machine runs so smoothly but it needs new leather. I looked for a long time before finding this baby, have another machine now working w/o the stand, so will keep looking for a stand w/o a machine.

Nothing about old treadles can possibly be weird!
