Due to production and distribution, a new OLFA rotary mat can emit an odorous smell that some people are sensitive too. Did that; didn't work, still smells.
I did the same and still the SMELL!!! I ended up leaving mine in the garage till it stopped. I just wanted to post what OLFA is saying to do for the problem. You think if they know about the issue they would resolve it before it gets in the hands of the consumer.
