I hope this chart will be what you are looking for, it has really come in handy for me, and there are more helpful things at this web site too.
Say you have a 5 inch block and want to add triangles to make a bigger block, look under finished size go to 5" and go across to column Cut for QST which is 6 1//4 then cut this square from corner to corner making 4 trianges and sew onto your 5" square. Hope this helps
