I have noticed here recently that many people are doing a straight machine stitch to machine applique verses the machine blanket stitch. Is this a new trend or does it work better? It definitely would save time. Or, maybe if it isn't going to be laundered it wouldn't matter using the straight stitch. I always fray check my edges after I machine blanket stitch just to be on the safe side. I've only been quilting for a year now so any advice is appreciated.
