I can only "guess" that it is a lace like trim treatment, but heavy stuff like you would find on heavy drapery. She used a few other trims just the inside of the binding, and around one or two of the borders.
I'm only guessing mind you as there was no "write up" on any of the quilts. Perhaps we'll find out in the next issue of the AQS magazine.
So you think she just went into Joann's and bought a few yards of trim and used a coupon?
