Thanks everyone. I don't see her often so I wanted to make something special. I will see her at my cousins wedding this weekend and will give it to her then. These are fun to make. (this summer I will probably make another one for my nephew)
sawsan - The name comes from "I spy with my little eye..." game. and the kid has to find the item. We play this game with my 5 year old son all the time to keep him occupied (such as at restaurants) ...I made him a blanket on his birthday this year, and he loves it.
Kooklabell - I also only have a boy, I had to order girly squares and add to it.
sunflower126 - I used 4" squares (3.5" after seams) and you are correct 9x12.
chairjogger- the finished size, with the borders was 44x58. good for a little one to pack around and take in the car.
