I also went on the Janome website and it seems they consider the stop/start button to be a cruise-control type of feature because you don't need to use the foot pedal. I never use the stop/start button with quilt piecing, but maybe I'll give it a try. The only advantage I can think of is that your speed would be consistent.
I recently hurt my foot (doing an exercise class - knew that stuff wasn't good for you! :mrgreen: ) and the push button was great then! :-D The speed control is great too when quilting, I set it down to my comfort speed then put the pedal to the metal! :-D
