Yes a few pointers to help you !
1. A 1/4 inch foot is your best tool
2. Starch and press your fabric prior to cutting. This will give you the most acurate cutting with all the seams , this along with the 1/4 inch foot will give you the best outcome in the block.
3. Keep your strips organized , it will pay off in efficient sewing time.
4. Strips can be as wide as 2.5 -3 inch or as narrow as 1.5 -1.25, but decide ahead of time which width measurement is the look you want. For scrappy smaller is more eye appealing as the colors will blend/merge .
5. If you like the scrappy look but do not want quite so much sewing time make the center block bigger then go with smaller around the bigger center. ( I have used this for many scrappy when I was not sure if I had enough , but used the light color for the center). I have done 3 inch centers and had a good results.
