I've been playing around with some curved crosshatching from Karen McTavish's new "Custom Curves" book. I marked the crosshatching with a blue water soluble marker so I could get the spacing right. I did this on my domestic machine, a Juki TL98. First I did a section of the crosshatching with the walking foot, and then the other 3 sections freemotion with the hopping foot. On a small piece like this, about 16" square, the walking foot is nice, but with a larger quilt, it would definitely be easier doing FMQ so the whole piece wouldn't have to be turned for each row.
I'm considering trying a small wholecloth...what do you all think?

Here's a closer view of the crosshatching. The piece has been washed and dried after quilting to give it that "puckered" look.
