I always wear a small scissors on a lanyard around my neck for snipping threads. I've not had a problem with it.
If I could figure out how to do it, I'd wear a seam ripper as well!
I put my seam ripper on the side of my sewing machine with that blue tacky poster stuff it is the best tip I've got from this board..
