How super! My grandmother, who raised me, embroidered and crochet the edgings of 10 sets of pillowcases for me to put into my hope chest. I don't know if young folks today have hope chests. I'm 65 now, married 36+ years and still have a set of these pillowcases. I am so happy you have these treasures. When I was a little girl, Gram would embroider and she had a little hoop and threads for me too. My first project, which took all of Lent (the 40 days before Easter) to work on in the evenings, was a set of 7 kitchen towels. Gram used a gingerbread cookie cutter to mark the towels. She used those towels until they were all worn out.
