I didn't want to use our well water, either, because that had a lot of minerals in it.
Watched a show, I think on Fons and Porter, and the guy said to use bottled drinking water for your iron, but never distilled.
I used bottled "spring water" in the thing. Still died.
Well so much for the theory...bummer....
