Gas stations have an odd way of doing things. The gas that is in the underground tanks needs to generate enough money for the station owner to pay for the next load of fuel. As the owner sees the price of the next load going up, he needs to raise the current price at the pump so he can pay the new higher price.
Thanks for saying this. I've always tried explaining this, but have never been able to get it come out so clear :-).
On the way to work yesterday (Tuesday - 5/10), gas was running $3.75 to $3.89. Late in the afternoon I noticed FB posts from friends saying gas was jumping. By the time I was heading home, it was $4.05 most places. I did spot one place at the bottom of the hill between the city I work and the city I live that still had it for $3.76, so you bet I filled up. I was down to under a half.
