my suggestion would be to trim them...dont chop the whole thing...

there are probably still new leaves amongst the shredded ones that are small and might have been hidden enuf to escape the worst of the damage...however....

i would live with them for as long as you can the way they are...they may still yet be feeding the roots...as they start to turn brown then take a pair of scissors and start clipping the individual leaves...yep a lot of work but they may just rejuvenate themselves by october
