I'm not sure if this will help, but changing to a new needle might help, also, I have had this happen when I have not threaded the bobbin correctly, making sure I hear the two clicks (at least on my machine). Usually it's something simple, but it can drive you to the looney bin, especially when you are all set and rearing to quilt. Good luck.
