For the sticky feet problem, I would take a large sheet and secure it to the wall underneath your quilt. Instead of draping it across the floor, pick up the other end and hold it in front of your body while you spray. I think you could even bunch up that end of the sheet so you could hold it in one hand while spraying with the other. By holding the sheet up and in front of your body, the excess spray should be hitting the sheet on the side facing the quilt and you will never be stepping on it.

A variation would be to position several chairs in front of the quilt and drape the sheet (that is tacked to the wall) first on the floor and then up and over the chairs. You would spray from behind the chairs.

You would have to fold the sheet back on itself to get access to the wall, and then have to peel it apart again, but I think that would be preferable to sticky feet!
