I was a TV show called Daylight Robbery about squirrels and how well they can outsmart any feeder. Someone filmed the squirrels working together on the weighted kind of bird feeder, the second squirrel would sit on the other side to counterbalance the bar so the first can get in!
Our neighborhood squirrels like to take the nuts from my neighbors tree and crack them on our deck and leave the shells behind. The neighbor has a deck also, but don't know why they choose ours. My husband says they like the music better here.
