I tripped across the book Start with a sweatshirt: sew a stylish jacket by Nancie M. Wiseman last fall.

In the general topics on this board, someone pointed to the "1000's of bolts, one crazy nut" as a reputable on-line vendor of fabric. I wanted to start quilting but wanted to try my walking foot on a less sizable, more manageable (for me) project. And so, here is the result of that mash up. This was a present for my mom for her birthday. Well, she taught me to sew afterall ...

Note, I used a commercial sewing pattern neckline to modify the sweatshirt.
