When I'm sewing along, tucking the allowance under with my needle..I will get to the end and all of the allowance is then over to the left side of the tip...Then I take the pointy end and fold it under leaving the tip "flat" (swept under), then I take a toothpick and sweep under the piece to make sure it is smooth, then I pull my thread just a tad to get the point out there, then take a stitch right in the point, then start tucking the allowance under again and start up the other side.
