I am an avid needle turn fan, prefer it to sitting at a sewing machine all day. It is portable, I can pick it up anytime, anywhere and work on it.
I do machine piecing and quilting, may times will piece the block on which I will applique a motif.
It is slower, you don't get as many quilts done, but so beautiful.
Needle turn is a learned skill, when I look at my points and curves of things I made 30 years ago, I am aghast. But on the other hand, it shows how far I have come.
There is a peaceful rhythm with needleturn, as with hand quilting.
Once you start it you will be hooked for life.
Check out the Baltimore Album BOM I am running here on the board: All of my blocks have been needleturn, but most of the girls are doing fusible.
