I use something similar and wouldn't be without it. It is a glass suction cup from Harbor Freight. The kind used to pick up panes of glass. I sliced the whole side of my finger off late one night and have used these suction cups since. My fingers are no where near the blade now.
I did a bit of slicing one day and that decided me on the purchase...I'll let board know how I like it later.
