I have one machine that does that consistently -- my lightweight Brother that goes to class with me.
Using a 90/14 needle helps correct that problem or any other tension problems on my Brother. My Brother is crabby about any thread that isn't 50/3, but she accepts all threads if I use 90/14 needles.
