It has an edge on one end that allows it to grasp the edge of my table; I then pull it tight to that edge and then I have no problem holding down the ruler with one hand while cutting the fabric. I also have one of these and love it. Super grip works well when I want to use a wider ruler than this one. Makes a great team.
