Our local Wal-mart still has bolts of fabric in additon to the precuts. Maybe because we are so far from any fabric stores it makes sense for them to have it here.
I have the feeling some "market surveying" has taken place...good for those of you who live in an area where lots of folks sew..my area not so much..
