Your bottom thread is probably heavier than your embroidery thread. embroidery thread is usually 40wt. and your poly/cotton is probably a 12wt which is heavier so it is thicker than the top thread. Use a 50wt or 60wt bobbin thread and that will keep it from showing on the top or use same color and weight thread top and bottom.
