Hi there and welcome from Florida. This is a perfect place to start but maybe a quilting class might help, I personally checked numermous books on quilting. I also have bought quilting books. One very nice book Better homes and gardens COMPLETE GUIDE TO QUILTING, I am still just learning. I am on my 3rd quilt. Good luck to you.
