I've been wanting to try my hand at more intense FMQ, and here's the result. I named it "Cat's Cool Cats". It's going to a good friend for her birthday present.

I started with a batik panel that I bought at our guild's quilt show last fall. On Ebay, I found some African batik 2-inch squares (got em for 1 cent ... plus postage  ) I used those to piece together the first border, to look like an old wrought-iron window. Then the LQS helped me pick out the solid border. I would never have considered that color on my own, but I love the result.

Then the FMQ started. I used several different metallic threads (my favorite part is the palm trees), and got lots of my design ideas from Leah Day's web site.
