flannel is used for batting regularly...the only real (advised requirement) you have done= pre=-wash
single layer- you can put it together how ever you want- they work well for tied- you can quilt them any way you want without worrying about density- with some batts if you don't quilt it enough it will come apart- bunch up= make a mess of a quilt- flannel will not do this- you can quilt it lots- you can quilt it a little= you can use it any way you want- and use what ever technique of basting you like- spray-pin-thread= everything works- just smooth it= do not stretch it.
