We replaced all our carpeting except the living room with laminate. We would have changed that also, but there is a pool table in that room. It is the best floor decision we have ever made. Since we also have a dog & a cat, it is easier to keep clean & has helped tremendously with allergies. My sewing room is very easy to clean & I dust mop daily. The only downside is that it echos. So be careful if the room is upstairs. Ours is Pergo.
