I have heard the 10% acid vinegar will kill weeds. Most household vinegar is 5% acid. I don't know where you would get the 10%, but I don't think I have seen it in the stores.
Sometimes you see a special pickling vinegar that is a higher % ... am thinking this might be what you are referring to.
