What I have found to work best for me is to cut 2-1/2" strips, fold in half and sew about 5/16" from the edge. I can adjust my needle to the right of center, so I mark on a ruler where I want the seam and move the needle over. The 1/4" seam is too small and the 3/8" too big to get the results I like. This folds around just perfect and covers the seam line just a tad.
