If the majority of them were in the housing areas, do they not have basements? I know that I read on here that 4 were killed in the hospital. Most of the homes there do not have basements.Joplin is not a real big town. A lot of older towns in Mo. did not have basements. Our town has very few,and we dont even have a "real" siren.If a tornado is spotted,the emergency vehicles drive through the streets with top mounted sirens. Very scary stuff!!
