The thread has a tendency to twist as we stitch. Every once in a while I grasp the thead near the quilt and let the thread and needle dangle. It will untwist itself. I use the beeswax too. Won't quilt without it.
And I always use a single thread. I was told by a seamstress years ago that double thread is not stronger. Just more visible and more apt to catch and be broken. A single thread melds with the fabric more.

Single thread...I use hand quilting thread and still have trouble with tangles. I have tried using bee's wax on the thread and that helps some. Any other suggestions?
