Just to throw out another option, even if you've already made your decision and finished it up ... one of the quilting classes I took from a well-respected quilter - he always "FACES" his quilts. Just like garments, take that same binding (or wider, like yours), sew as usual to the quilt front, press it and completely turn it to the back, hand sew it down. The quilts do not have the framing effect that traditional binding gives, but his didn't need it :)
