I use this type of pannel/pillow square to make purses out of. Use one for the front, one for the back and a nice cordinating fabrc for the sides, bottom and handle straps. Add another cordinating fabric for the inside and I close with hook and loop tape. Big and slouchy, you can drop your regular purse inside or juct carry a ton of stuff inside. People always stop me and ask me where I got my bags!! You can add batting and do a bit of quilting.....I have done a lot and none! Toss in the washer and dryer every few weeks and they are good to go.

PS....you wlll need a fairly sturdy webbing for the handles. I use a polyproplene webbing that is just about 2 inches wide and cover it with the cordinating fabric.
