This is another of the family quilts, made by my gg-grandmother during the Civil War in a pattern she called 'Confederate Star.' It is not in as good condition as the Railroad quilt, having had a tough time during the war years. The family evacuated northern Louisiana for Texas after the city of Vicksburg fell. When crossing the Red River at Shreveport the wagon overturned, spilling its contents into the river. The quilt was recovered and still shows a reddish tinge.
