Hi all,

I just wanted to show you the quilt that I finished yesterday!

I made this quilt for a friend's upcoming wedding, so I wanted something wedding-related but modern (they are in their 20s). I found this pattern and combined the tradition of "something blue" with the look of white wedding cakes.

The pattern is "Delectable Cakes" by the Fresh Cut Quilt Pattern Co. It called for fat quarters or layer cakes, and it was a really easy pattern to sew (it was sewn in strips for fast piecing).

I used Amy Butler fat quarters in the blue/silver colorways of the Daisy Chain line, which were beautiful and modern. I modified the borders a bit, but otherwise followed the pattern (it ended up about 60" x 75"). I quilted in the white areas 1/4 inch away from the seams to echo the wedding cake design. At the end, I threw it in the wash to give it a more "crinkly" antique look.

The borders came out a bit wonky, since I didn't square it up properly, but otherwise I'm really happy with it! I used more Amy Butler fabric on the back and added a few strips of extra fabric to give it some interest.

Hope you like it. :)
