I use 100 wt Invisafil thread (aka Wonderfil). It is so fine and it disappears into the applique nicely. I have been using it for a few years now and have been winning ribbons on my quilts at shows. I used to use the DMC and found it to be too heavy. You can make a slip knot at the eye of the needle with this fine thread and it will not come off your needle until you cut it off.
